Morning preparation photos on your wedding day, what to expect?

Ladies.. picture this. It's finally arrived! The morning of your big day. You are most likely to be either in your own home, or a lovely hotel room, with your bridesmaids, mother, aunties, possibly a couple of children as well. The room will be a hive of activity, people walking in and out, room service, flowers arriving, make-up artists and of course your photographer! Your room will be busy!

I would always suggest that you discuss what you want your photographer to capture for your getting ready shots as some brides are not comfortable with close up portrait styles, and there are some brides who would like to be a bit more risqué and have a series of pictures where they are in their wedding lingerie and garter, whatever your style make sure you let your photographer know.

The nerves and excitement will be palpable and this is where I can spend time capturing the smiles, and laughter, tears of joy when mum and dad come to see you, your bridesmaids gasping when they see you in your dress, all the little details. It's also a lovely time for me to get to know your bridal party!

If you have precious jewellery that has been passed down through your family that you will be wearing on the day perhaps you would like that photographed, or one of your bridesmaids has gifted you something to wear on the day, let your photographer know even if it's on that morning and you hadn't discussed it in prior meetings, unexpected requests are part of the job that I do, so don't be afraid to ask!

My biggest advice would be to relax and enjoy your morning. Let your bridal party take care of who is coming in and out, accepting deliveries or messages. Allow yourself to be pampered and have a glass of bubbles to settle the nerves!

I have been lucky to have a lot of fun with my brides during the prep photographs, have even helped do up buttons on the bridal gown because mums nails were too long, have run to look for extra flowers from table arrangements as the florist hadn't brought enough button holes, and filled up champagne glasses in between shooting! It's all part of why I love my job. So don't go into a panic on the morning of your wedding, everything will be in hand, allow yourself to relax and be pampered and just enjoy being the star of the show.

Love
